Alan D.
Brailsford
April 3, 1930 – April 26, 2021
Brailsford, Alan of Dearborn, passed away April 26, age 91. Loving husband of the late Yvonne "Josephine" for 68 years. Beloved father of Amanda (Gerardo Urbina) Brailsford-Urbina, Melanie (David) Bonello, and Gavin (Candace). Proud grandfather of Bethany Joy, Melissa Hope and Grace Elizabeth. Proud great-grandfather of Ava Nicole, Hazel Josephine and Orlando David. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy in life.
Born in England and having grown up there, Alan always kept his fondness for all things British. Even though he first came to the US with his wife in his 20s, he still had a British accent that made him memorable. He and his wife Jose enjoyed many visits with friends and family in their Devon home and other parts of Britain.
Alan was an educated and intelligent man who obtained a PhD in Physics and was a Fellow. This led him to a successful career as a research physicist and in management for Ford Motor Company. As a true intellectual, he had a passion for reading and was a talented writer of poems, stories and plays. Christian studies were especially intriguing to Alan and he spent many hours educating himself on the subject.
Golfing was another activity that Alan found to be very enjoyable with family and friends, both in their Florida home and in Michigan.
For 50 years Alan was highly involved at First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn. During this time, he made many contributions that have left an impact on the church. Many lifelong friendships were developed with the other members of the church.
Alan was an extraordinary man with a caring heart. It was important to him that he know everyone's name and make a personal connection. He had a smile for all and a great sense of humor and fun. Everyone described him as such a nice and kind man. He will be greatly missed.
A private gathering in remembrance will take place at a later date.
