Alfred "Big
Al" Reickel
January 18, 1932 – July 13, 2019
Alfred Reickel, otherwise known as Big Al, was a one of a kind man. He was one who could make friends easily everywhere he went. At a party he would get his enjoyment from watching everyone having fun and joining in conversations with his Pepsi in hand.
Al was a huge sports fan. He was especially fond of the Detroit Tigers. You could be sure that he would be watching the game rooting them on. When the Tigers weren't playing, he would be watching a sport of one kind or another. He even stuck it out with the Lions! Watching when they won the championship in 1954 definitely made him a loyal fan.
His other passion was gardening. He loved to spend time planting his flowers and observing the wild life that reaped the benefits of his efforts. Nature brought him great happiness. His kids wouldn't be at all surprised to find their dad out planting flowers in their yards! After a long day of watching the game and perfecting the garden, Al loved a dinner of a great steak and a baked potato. There would also have to be a tall glass of milk to wash it down.
Devoted as he was to his job, he worked until he wasn't able to. During his time away, you could be sure that he was living it up in Las Vegas or Atlantic City. His love for the thrill of the casino kept him coming back.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion and living life to the fullest. He will be truly missed by all that were fortunate to have had him touch their lives. He will always be in our hearts.
Alfred E. Reickel "Big Al" passed away on July 13, 2019 at the age of 87. Loving father of Susan (David) Shaw, Eric Reickel, Kristin Gibson and James (Denise) Reickel. Proud grandfather of Jamie Reickel, Jack Reickel, Kramer Shaw, David Reickel, Kallen Shaw, Dana Reickel, Holly Gibson and Kelly Gibson. Survived by his brother Richard E Reickel, Sr. (Muriel).
