Alice Xenia Bancroft passed peacefully in her sleep at home on September 3 at the age of 99 years old.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth.  She spent the last few days of her life with her son, Michael, granddaughter, Anastasia, and great-granddaughter, Isabel doing the things she loved the most: looking at the flowers and trees at Belle Isle, touring Isabel's new campus, and looking at pictures of her grandson, George, granddaughter, Julia, and great-grandchildren, Allegra and Caspian

Alice was raised as an orphan by extended family during the depression years. She raised two children as a single mom secretary and finally fulfilled her dream and received her BA from Wayne State University

Alice loved to paint and draw, did extensive travel with her church group, and always insisted on a drive north to see the fall colors.  She also volunteered at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Dearborn Library

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1:30pm at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church (8625 E Jefferson Ave, Detroit, MI 48214). Gathering at the church will begin at 1pm.
