Obituary

Alice Louise (Sibley) Downey was born on November 5, 1962, to Austin and Erlene Sibley in Wyandotte, Michigan. She was the youngest of
four children, with siblings Alan Sibley, Arlinda Brown, and Ann Herma. From a young age, Alice had a remarkable ability to form deep and meaningful connections with those around her. At just six years old, she became an aunt to Wendy, her first niece, and their bond was incredibly strong, filled with countless adventures and moments of joy.

In October 1981, Alice married Clarence (Phil) Downey, beginning a journey of love and companionship that brought six wonderful children into their lives: James (Judy) Downey, Amanda (Eric) Robinson, Krystina Downey, Thomas Downey, Candice (John) Guffey, and Sara Downey. As her family grew, Alice's heart expanded with love for each of her 14 grandchildren. She also cherished her nieces and nephews, including Tiffany (Aaron) Zimmerman and Mark Herma, as well as close friends whom she lovingly regarded as her own children.

Alice's life was filled with a passion for the simple pleasures and adventures that family life offered. She loved exploring new places, camping under the stars, and riding horses through scenic trails. The Renaissance Festival was a favorite family tradition, as were visits to the zoo and movie nights. However, it was the everyday moments, like family walks, that brought her the greatest joy. Her family was her pride and joy, the center of her universe.

Even after her divorce from Clarence in 2003, their bond remained strong. In 2016, Alice showcased her enduring love and commitment by proposing to Clarence while he was battling cancer. Though they were unable to marry due to his passing, their connection remained a testament to their deep affection for each other.

In 2018, Alice faced a significant health challenge when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. With incredible strength, resilience, and determination, she underwent surgeries and chemotherapy, ultimately beating the disease. However, her battle with cancer was not over. In 2020, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Alice faced this new challenge with the same courage and determination, successfully overcoming the first and second rounds of treatment. Sadly, her third battle with ovarian cancer proved to be her toughest. Despite the hardships, Alice's faith in the Lord never wavered. Her unwavering faith, love, and strength were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Alice was preceded in death by her mother Erlene, father Austin Sibley, Uncle Dude Tramel, fiancé Clarence Downey, and her beloved dog companion Kahne. Alice's legacy is one of love, perseverance, and faith. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity, and her spirit will continue to inspire her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
