Alice J.
Dupler
October 7, 1925 – July 25, 2022
Dupler, Alice Joan (nee: Orwig) born Oct. 7, 1925
Beloved daughter of the late Earl Orwig, MD and Hazel Orwig. Born in Toledo, Ohio, the middle of three daughters.
Married to the love of her life, Gerald Eugene Dupler MD, in 1948. They met at Denison University, Ohio, where Alice graduated with a pre-med degree. Alice was active in her sorority, Alpa Phi for much of her life.
Alice and Jerry moved to Dearborn, MI. In 1950. They had four children, Diana McIntire (Stephen), Jeffrey Dupler, Virginia Nuffer (Jim) and Barbara Murray (Dan). Also survived by five grand children, Emily Hawks, Bradley Nuffer, Ryan Nuffer, Patrick Murray and Charles Murray and eight great-grand children.
The extended family spent summer vacations together in northern Michigan, where Alice would organize multi generational talent shows, and cook up delicious fish fry dinners. Alice enjoyed sharing her love of the outdoors with her children. She especially enjoyed hiking and bird watching with them.
Alice and Jerry took the family on frequent trips, from NYC, Quebec, Montreal, and Williamsburg, to yearly snow skiing trips up north.
In later years, Alice and Jerry spent winters in Mesa, AZ. They were active members of the Dearborn Country Club.
All four children attended Dearborn schools. Alice was the PTA president for many years and coordinated yearly Fun Fairs at Haigh Elementary. When her children graduated from DHS, she planned Senior Parties which all graduating students attended. A favorite story is of her talking with Bob Seger and Jam productions to hire entertainment for the parties.
Alice was a generous mother who drove her children to various lessons in her station wagon.
Alice was a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church. She had a strong, lifelong faith which informed her kind and loving ways. Alice sang Alto in the choir and was in the Hand Bell Choir. She taught children's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, served on many committees, and worked in the kitchen during potluck suppers.
Alice enjoyed music. She played the violin, piano, auto harp, and harmonica. She was in the Ukulele Ladies Band.
Alice was a competitive game player. She was in the same bridge club for thirty years.
She did daily crossword puzzles and loved playing Scrabble.
After Jerry died, Alice lived at Henry Ford Village, where she enjoyed friends, the delicious nightly dinners, and the many activities. She was well loved and will be greatly missed. Please leave an online condolence to comfort the family. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Protestant Congregation c/o Pastor Kurt Gebhard, Allegria Village, 15101 Ford Rd. Dearborn MI. 48126. Private arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home.
