Alice Parker (nee Rogers) was born and raised in Rockland, Maine. Beloved wife of the late George. Loving mother of Alice Harris (Kelly), Stephen (Betty) and the late George Jr. Dearest grandmother of Leila, Leena and Leia. Also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. As a teenager, Alice worked at a local sardine factory and also at Bath Iron Works shipyard during World War II. It was while working at Bath, she met her future husband George Parker. Alice worked her way through Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Latin. In 1950, Alice married George Parker in Detroit, Michigan, and settled in the Corktown area of Detroit. After having three children, Alice attended Wayne State Law School and graduated in 1959. She passed the Bar and started practicing law from her home, serving the local community. Alice was active in a neighborhood improvement group and local politics serving as a precinct delegate. After retiring, Alice and George moved to Dearborn, Michigan. She was active in the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Alice and George later moved to American House in Westland where she helped care for her husband George during his illnesses and hospice. After George passed, Alice joined the American House Choir. Alice's hobbies included reading (especially Stephen King novels), puzzles, swimming, picnicking, and traveling. Alice's travels included many trips to Maine to visit friends and relatives; trips to Iowa to visit grand children and great grand children and trips to Oklahoma to visit her daughter and son-in-law. If you would like to make a memorial contribution, please contact NAMI. Funeral mass will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22430 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48124. Gathering at church from 10:30 a.m. Visitation Sunday 1-8 p.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home. Rosary Sunday 7:00 p.m. Interment St. Hedwig Cemetery.
