Allen M. Gunther passed away on November 5, 2024 at the age of 82.

Al was born in the early hours of May 22, 1942 at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Detroit to parents, Marjorie and Melvin of Dearborn, Michigan. He was baptized at and attended St. Peter and Paul Church in Detroit until 1952 when he became a member of St. James United Church of Christ in Dearborn. He was confirmed in 1953.

Al graduated from Fordson High School in 1960 and attended Henry Ford Community College for a brief time before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1961. He was stationed at Strategic Air Command Headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska and received his honorable discharge in 1965.

Soon after, Al was accepted into the Ford Motor Company apprenticeship program and graduated in 1969 as an Industrial Hydraulic Repairman.

Al was always athletic and could often be found on a field or court of some kind playing baseball, softball, basketball, golf, or at the alley bowling leagues with Beverley.

Al is survived by his beloved wife Beverley; they were married on November 12, 1966 at St. James UCC. Loving father of the late Craig Allen, Rebecca (Chris McCurdy) Ruppert, John Gunther, Deborah (Jason Rogers) Gunther, and Mark (Andrea) Gunther. Proud Papa of Rachel, Abby, Luke, Garrett, and Celia. Great Papa of Lillian and Beckham. Al also leaves behind his sister, Beverly Pacio, and his son-in-law, Greg Ruppert.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 16th, at St Paul United Church of Christ (24158 Goddard Rd, Taylor, MI 48180). Gathering begins at 10am with the service starting at 10:30am.
