Obituary

Alma Eva McKillen was born on May 1st, 1930, to Karl and Ida (nee Krentz) Schwartz, in Detroit, MI. She was the youngest of three children born to Karl and Ida. She was Baptized and later Confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She had many jobs, from working as a soda fountain clerk and sandwich maker at a deli after school, to working at Kroger, to being a stay-at-home wife and mother, to teaching Kindergarten at Emmanuel Lutheran School, to teaching Sunday School, and finally, to working alongside her beloved husband Herbert at the family florist, Fisher's Flowers, for almost 50 years. She met her husband Herbert when visiting his church one Sunday. He was an Usher, and when she had put her offering in the plate, her refused to let go until she had looked up at him. They were married on August 26th, 1950, and blessed with two children, David and Ruth, in which she raised diligently in the faith. Alma loved her Lord dearly and loved her church. She was incredibly generous with her time and love, and serving others was what she had loved to do. She was an incredibly talented seamstress, piano player, and rubber stamper. She used her gifts to cheer others, and not a holiday or birthday would go by without a hand-made card from her. She was a dog lover, and she and Herbert, like good true Germans, raised Dachshunds, and had many throughout the years. Their favorites were "Fritzie", and later, "Coco". Her children, her grandchildren, and later, great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and not a day would go by without her talking of how proud she was of each and every one of them. She loved with all of her heart, right until the blessed moment that her Lord called her home. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Ida, her brother Adolph, her sister Elsie, her beloved husband Herbert, and her son-in-law Craig. She leaves behind her children, David (Kathy) and Ruth, her 4 grandchildren, Ryan (Margaret "Maggie"), Sarah (Corey), Matthew (Katie), and Kathleen "Katie". She leaves behind her 6 great-grandchildren, Quinn, Caleb, Joshua, Dylan, Chloe, and Wilson.
