Obituary

Alyce Glotzhober was born Feb. 26, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan and died Dec. 8, 2018. She was the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Newman) Kraepel and a graduate of Cass Tech High School. She continued her education at Concordia College, River Forest, Illinois, and Eastern Michigan University, ultimately receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree. She taught at Redford Lutheran School in Detroit for 7 years, during which time she met and married the late Carl Glotzhober. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Mary and Debbie. She continued her career at Emmanuel Lutheran School in Dearborn, where she taught 1st grade for 38 years, retiring as Teacher Emeritus. She was a member of the Detroit Storytelling League and also enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and following the lives of her former students. She is survived by her daughters Mary (William) Schott and Debbie (the late David) Boyer, grandchildren Andrew (Melissa) Schott, Rev. Michael (Stephanie) Boyer, Katie (Bill) Erickson, and Mary Ann (Kevin) Cousino, great-grandchildren Peter, Sarah, Jacob, Grace, and Rachel. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 11 from 2-8PM at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave. Funeral will be Wednesday, December 12, instate 10AM until service at 11AM, located at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 800 S. Military St., Dearborn. Memorials may be made out to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
