Mother, grandmother, feminist, activist. Alyce Smith, a lifelong Lincoln Park resident, passed away on September 21, 2020, of natural causes. She was pre-deceased by her husband Christopher Smith. She is survived by 2 children, Terri Lokuta and Philip Lokuta (Debbie); 3 step-daughters Cynthia, Michelle and Roxanne; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Alyce was active in the community for many years.  She had been active in the Girl Scouts, was a past LP councilwoman, past chair of the Wayne County Election Commission, was instrumental in raising community awareness for community mental health programs and was instrumental in creating a drug rehabilitation center for the Downriver area. Alyce along with her husband Chris were very active in the Democratic Party.

A private family service is planned. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Gift of Life and American Cancer Society.
