Obituary

Andrew P. Balestrieri, 76, of Dearborn, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. A devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, and a friend to all, he was a man who truly built a life with his own two hands.

Born on February 12, 1949, in Garden City, Michigan, Andrew grew up in Belleville. His strong character and work ethic were evident from a young age. As a preteen and teen, he held one of his biggest accomplishments: faithfully delivering papers on his bike every single day. He went on to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to the capability he demonstrated throughout his life. After graduating from high school, he answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

The true cornerstone of his life began at age 15 when he met Frances (nee Barnaby). It was, as they both said, "love at first sight." That first glance grew into a steadfast partnership that spanned 57 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they made a loving home in Dearborn and raised their three children.

Andrew was a skilled electrician by trade, and his expertise and entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate a successful pump and motor business. His talents, however, were not limited to his profession. He was affectionately known by all as "Handy Andy," a man who could genuinely fix anything and everything. He generously shared this gift, lending his steady hand to family, friends, and his community, including serving on the board of his co-op for four years.

When he wasn't tinkering or fixing, Andrew was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions, loved the music of Roy Orbison, and found his greatest joy in simply watching his grandchildren grow.

His legacy of love, hard work, and resourcefulness is carried on by his beloved wife, Frances; his children, Dawn Glossa (Duane), Andrew Balestrieri Jr. (Amy), and Daniel Balestrieri (Mary); and his adored grandchildren: Ethan, Ian, Olivia, Owen, Daniel, and Madilyn. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Kathleen, Peggy, Juli, and Anthony, as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

He was a rock for his family and a guiding light for his community. He will be missed beyond measure.
