Obituary

Ann Paolini

Loving wife of the late Dominic Paolini, daughter of Teodoro and Antonina Camardese.  Loving sister of deceased brothers Victor (Olga) and Leo (Esther) Camardese, and of Anna Camardese who died the year before she was born.    She is survived by her 4 children, Peter, Donna (Jon) Cherney, Laura (Gaetano) Russo, and Frank (Angela) Paolini.    She has 12 surviving grandchildren, and 1 that was lost at birth, Santino Paolini.  She was also blessed to have seen and loved 7 Great grandchildren and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ann Paolini was born at home in Dearborn on the feast of the Assumption in 1930 to parents who had immigrated from Italy in 1924.  She grew up during the Great Depression and WWII.  She graduated from Fordson High School in 1948 and was the Salutatorian of her class.   She worked at the Detroit Produce Terminal as a secretary.  At a wedding, she met her future husband, Dominic, who had immigrated from Italy and was living in Windsor.   They got Married in 1954 and had their first child, Peter, in 1955 which is when she quit working.  Three more children followed, which motivated them to move from her mother's upper flat to a new ranch home in Dearborn, just a block from the school and the park, so not a lot of driving required.

Ann, above all,  loved her home and her family.   She was most happy cooking for her family and having them all over the house for birthdays and holidays.   She would drive the kids to Catechism and music lessons.   She would always be at concerts and events at school.

As the grandchildren came along, Grandma was always available to watch the kids, and they were always well fed when in her care.   Ann was a woman of order and routines.   She liked to have things done in a certain way and at a certain time.    One of her routines was to watch Days of Our Lives every day at 1pm.   That was the only show she watched during the day.  It was her daily lunch time break, and then back to chores.  Her other form of relaxation was to work the New York Times crossword puzzle.   This is something she did consistently every week until just about 2 weeks ago.   And she was good at it!

Ann was a private person who usually kept her opinions and thoughts to herself.  While she did not overtly tell anyone what to do, somehow one always knew whether she was pleased or displeased with what someone was doing or about to do.  As her mother did, Ann had a devotion to St. Anthony, and subscribed to the St. Anthony Messenger magazine.

She had maintained several lifelong friendships, even though the friends were miles apart.  She was kind, faithful, loving, and always someone that would be there for you and would help you in anyway possible.  She will always be in our hearts, and she will be forever missed.   May Perpetual Light shine upon her and may she Rest in Peace.
