Obituary

Anna Jones passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family. She was born on July 21, 1933, in Jefferson City, Tennessee, and spent her childhood in Gastonia, North Carolina. As a teenager, Anna moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where she met the love of her life, Donald Richard Jones. They shared 68 years of marriage until Richard's passing in 2023.

Anna is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Gatscher, Laura Parks, and Julie (Jerry) Welsch; her seven grandchildren, Dionne (Brad) Dracka, Dawn (Jeremy) Rospierski, Savanna Parks, Jeremy Welsch, Jordyn Welsch, Rebecka Parks, and Jillian Welsch; and her two great-grandsons, Jace and Hudson Rospierski.

She was the daughter of the late Belton Dewey and Buna Arlena Holt and the last surviving member of their eight children. She is survived by her dearly loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Anna was a devoted Girl Scout leader for many years, actively involved in her children's schools, an accomplished seamstress, and a faithful member of the Church of God. She enjoyed bowling on numerous leagues and loved playing cards with friends and family.

After retiring, Anna and Richard spent more than 20 years as snowbirds in Silver Springs, Florida, where she stayed busy organizing euchre and bunco leagues and planning casino trips, bringing people together wherever she went. More than anything else, Anna cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.

In her final years, Anna was cared for at home by her devoted family and compassionate caregivers: Vanessa Barrett, Mary Jo Smiley, Doris Woodward, Michele (Kay) Alcala, Tonya Dodd, and Jackie York.
