Anne
Lohman
January 6, 1932 – December 11, 2022
Anne Amiot Lohman passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 11th, 2022. Anne was nearly 91. She is survived by 6 children: Marcia Roullard, Susan Pagen, Robert Amiot, Marianne Calderon, Michele McNees, and Julie Fulton, as well as 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Anne's youngest son, Thomas Amiot, preceded her in death.
Anne was a pioneer in the hobby ceramic industry. She started her ceramic hobby in 1951 and purchased one of the first kilns that Evenheat produced. From her home, she started her business and eventually progressed to a storefront studio. Her studio "Ceramics by Anne" was quite successful. Anne also created "clay lifting" and patented her tool line "Anne Amiot's Clay Lift tools." She created and published books and pattern books complementing her tools, plus traveled throughout the United States teaching the technique.
Throughout the years, Anne was always engaging her family in many different creative hobbies. There was always a project in progress. She later was a partner in Macky Molds, sculpting many of the early designs. After leaving Macky Molds, Anne began her own unique mold line where the molds were designed to use her clay lift tools. In 1986 Anne sold her business "Anne Amiot's Clay Magic Molds" to her youngest daughter, Julie.
Beyond working with ceramics, Anne was also talented at sculpting, stained glass artwork, and watercolor painting. Over the years Anne made many beautiful creations that she gifted to her family and friends or sold at art shows. In her later years, Anne also enjoyed ballroom dancing. This was a beautiful way for her to express her artistic abilities through motion.
Anne has influenced and inspired so many people throughout her years. Her legacy will live on through her artwork and in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will truly be missed.
