Anthony Niemiec, a proud Army veteran, passed away on June 8, 2026. Born on April 29, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan to Anthony and Stella Niemiec, Anthony—known affectionately as "Tony"—led a life marked by dedication, both to his country and to the simple joys that brought him happiness throughout the years.

Tony’s devotion to bowling was legendary. He bowled in leagues well into his nineties, an activity that not only kept him vibrant but also connected him to many friends and fellow enthusiasts. Among his remarkable achievements was the rare feat of bowling a perfect 300 game, a testament to his skill and passion for the sport. Every year, he delighted in acquiring new bowling balls, a small tradition that underscored his love and commitment to the game. In addition to bowling, he was an elite baseball player who played first base and was a 400 hitter and even "stole" home in Briggs Stadium when he played for a Detroit youth league.

Beyond his sporting pursuits, Tony held a deep affection for dogs. Throughout his life, he was accompanied by several devoted canine companions, who provided him with loyal friendship and joy. His love for these animals was emblematic of his warm and caring nature.

Anthony was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marie (Mandanska) Niemiec, who passed away in 2021. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Patricia and Eunice, as well as by his cherished grand-pup Herbie, whose memory remained close to Tony’s heart.

He is survived by his loving children Susan (Greg), Debbie (Craig), Mark (Tammy), and grandchildren Bridget, Michele, Dustin, Kallie, and Kyle, Karah (Kyle), Kate (Dave), and Kody, and great-grandchildren Lily, Alexandra, Grant, Grace, Ellie, and Mia.

Anthony Niemiec’s life was a testament to determination, love, and the joy found in both family and passions. He will be greatly missed.
