Obituary

Beatrice Chaffin passed away on November 4, 2018 at the age of 93.  She was born and raised in Bloomington Springs, Tennessee. She grew up on a productive farm where they produced their own food.  They canned and conserved to be sure there was enough food to feed Beatrice and her 11 siblings for the winter.

Beatrice married Noah in 1945 after he returned from World War II.  They raised 4 children together – Dennis, Charlotte, Larry and Debra.  Beatrice was a VERY proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Noah passed away in 1999 – Beatrice has spent the past 19 years by herself and everyday she made sure to have an agenda set.  She found happiness in keeping busy and having projects around the house.  She was even happier when she had family there working on a project alongside her.  Beatrice took pride in keeping her house clean- she also loved quilting, working in her garden and canning tomatoes.

Beatrice was green before it was popular!  She was an extreme conservationist – no waste and reuse as much as possible.  She was known to reuse butter tubs in place of Tupperware. Beatrice would even re-purpose old rags and t-shirts into strips of cloth and use the strips to tie her tomato plants up.

Faith was always a big part of Beatrice's life and she was baptized in 1948.  She loved working with the Bible Department and working with the children at church.  Beatrice was a devoted member of Vinewood Church of Christ in Detroit, Michigan for many years prior to becoming a loyal member of Gateway Church of Christ in Southgate, Michigan.

Beatrice is survived by her children: Dennis (Gail), Charlotte (Gerald) Cunningham, Larry (Janie) and Debra (Bob) Perkowski.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
