Bernadine Geraldine Mistor, age 86, of Dearborn, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 13, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, Bernadine was the beloved daughter of Mary and Simon Kwiecien and the second of seven children. She attended St. Andrew High School in Detroit, earned her Bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University, and later returned to school after raising six children to earn her Master’s degree. She worked as a social worker for more than 20 years, dedicating her career to helping those in need.
On June 2, 1962, she married the love of her life, Ronald Mistor. Together, they built a life rooted in deep faith, unwavering commitment to family, and joyful service to others.
A lifelong, devout Catholic, Bernadine was an integral part of St. Alphonsus Church for decades. She served as a reader and lay minister for 40 years each and remained actively involved in nearly every facet of parish life. Through her quiet strength, generosity, and radiant faith, she touched countless lives and became a beloved pillar of her community.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Ronald Mistor; her children, Donna (Carl) Kayden, Paul (Janet) Mistor, Ron (Ginger) Mistor, David Mistor, Jackie (Rodney) Neal, and Todd Mistor. Bernadine was a proud grandmother to Jeremy, Jessica, Joshua, Haley (and Derrick), Shelby (and Preston), Luke, Vivienne, Anastasia, Margaux, Genevieve, Kyle (and Jenny), Lauren, and Allison; and great-grandmother to Flora and Aubrey.
She will be remembered for her deep love of family, her lifelong dedication to her faith and church, and the gentle, faithful way she lived her life. Her legacy of kindness, service, and devotion continues through her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.
Visitation for Bernadine will take place at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home 22546 Michigan Ave. Dearborn, 48124 on Thursday, July 30 from 3:00-8:00pm with a rosary at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will take place at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church 13540 Gould St., Dearborn on Friday, July 31 at 12:30pm with family greeting friends beginning at noon.
