Memorial Gathering Saturday, September 24, 2016, 12:00pm-4:00pm with a Memorial Service at 1:00pm at the Taylor Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 S. Telegraph Road.

Bernie was the firstborn of George Arko and the second born of Albertha (Bert) Arko.

He was preceded in death by his father George Arko and mother Albertha Arko nee Allen, four brothers Raymond Maxwell, George Arko, Peter Arko and James Arko.

Bernie was born in Calumet, MI. He graduated from Calumet High school in 1954. He worked for several companies over the years. He was a sales representative for Franks Spices and Bostitch Office Supplies. He was a union worker for the Stroh Brewery Company and retired as a union worker for Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn in 2001.

He is survived by his wife Jane (Tasker), daughter Samantha (Larry) Mangold, and two grandsons Adam and Caleb Mangold, three brothers Ed (Betty) Arko, Bob (Gayle) Arko and Paul Arko, and two sisters Angie (Raymond) Soper and Susie (Jerry) Doty and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family requests in lieu of flowers or gifts that you would consider a donation to the American Heart Association or your local Lions Club.
