Beverly
Hanson
June 29, 2021
Beverly Hanson of Dearborn, Michigan passed away June 29, 2021 with her daughter Trish by her side. Beverly was born December 7, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Hilda and Ernest Clarke. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Walter Hanson, son Andrew J. Worrall and Andrew A. Worrall (first husband). She is survived by daughter Trish Worrall and her husband, Christopher "Ugie" Ugorowski; son Jeffrey Worrall and his wife, Natalie Liegghio; daughter Laurie Sugrue and grandchildren. She also leaves behind a long list of dear friends and her ever-faithful Yorkie "Katie."
Beverly was an only child and center of Hilda and Ernest's universe. In fact, it was nothing short of a labor of love for Ernest to give Beverly a home that he custom-built for her as a wedding gift.
At a young age it was obvious that Beverly had a passion and talent for art. She began with oil painting. Over the years broadened her talents in many ways, right down to creating the family Christmas ornaments.
It should go without saying that Beverly loved gardening and flowers. So many of us know that she combined her two loves of art and flowers into creating floral arrangements, evolving ultimately into a successful business. Her beautiful and unique arrangements quickly earned enough attention to where she expanded her business beyond the borders of Michigan. Well known in her field, Beverly was often invited as a special guest to big-city garden and horticulture events in places such as Atlanta, Miami, New York, Palm Beach and more. Beverly retired three years ago, but her legacy lives on with her beautiful works of art in homes across the country. Her love of gardening never waned. In fact, just a few weeks ago she made five trips to Schwartz's Greenhouse in just one day!
It is impossible to note all the wonderful things that Beverly filled her life with and the lives of people around her. Journeys to Nantucket, Cabo, Chicago and Maine alongside her daughter Trish and son-in-law Ugie created especially fond memories, as well as her time in Florida with son Jeff, daughter-in-law Natalie and "grand dog" Gracie.
Beverly had the heart of a volunteer and her generosity was felt by so many for so many years. Not enough can be said about her love of animals, especially her Yorkies. Her furry friends could always count on her to be present at Friends of Animal Shelter events in Dearborn.
Of course, celebrating her Irish heritage was something that could not be ignored. Every day was St. Patrick's Day as far as Beverly was concerned. If it was Irish, she did it, wore it, knew it. Sharing the words of the Irish Prayer with people she cared about was part of her mission in life.
So many people will forever treasure the countless days with Beverly at the Dearborn Country Club and the many, many football tailgates. At the Club and everywhere she went, Beverly was noticeably well-dressed. Her ever-present string of pearls and understated elegance was one to envy.
Some will recall driving around Dearborn with Beverly every Christmas to check out the lights and decorations. She knew all of the neighborhoods and the best places to go. Christmas and her love of St. Kateri's were cornerstones in her life. She rarely missed Sunday Mass at 9 am and sat in the very same spot every time..
The soundtrack of Beverly's life has little but Frank Sinatra running through it, and the joy of that music was merely a supporting role to the beam of light Beverly cast on others. She touched the lives of so many people and made the world a more beautiful place. She had an incredible number of close and dear friends that she cherished and loved who will miss her terribly. Beverly will never be forgotten.
Until we meet again my dear friend,
Anna Brown (with your family in my heart)
