Obituary

Bonnie Mae Killen, 80, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior on May 30, 2025, at home surrounded by her family and under the care of Angela Hospice.

Born on January 20, 1945, alongside her twin sister Donnie, in Florence Alabama. She was a beautiful soul, full of life, warmth, and at times, a little bit crazy. Bonnie had a gift for finding joy in life's simple pleasures. Whether treasure hunting at a garage sale, playing slots at the casino, or shopping on the weekends, she lived life to the fullest.

Bonnie dedicated many years of her life working in custodial services at local schools, where she was loved by students and staff alike. She adored the children and often shared joyful stories about the laughter and joy they brought into her days. The kids loved her right back—she was known for her kindness, warm smile, and the way she treated every child as if they were her own.

She cherished her time camping at Camp Dearborn, traveling up north, and wandering the aisles of the Gibraltar Trade Center. But more than anything, Bonnie loved her family. She made it her mission to ensure everyone around her felt loved- often giving away her belongings just to bring joy to others. She never met a stranger and had the ability to make anyone feel like a lifelong friend.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter Michelle Barker; grandchildren Nicole (Mike) Bannerman and Tyler (Sierra) Bannerman; great-grandchildren Trinity, Arienna, and Bella; siblings Bill (Cathy) Killen, Bobbie (Terry) Carter, John Killen, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Trixie and Huliet Killen; her twin sister Donnie: brothers Jesse and Joe; and great grandchild Brynlee. Though we mourn her loss, we find comfort in knowing she was welcomed into Heaven with open arms.

"Well done, good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:21
