In Loving Memory of Brian Stark

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Stark, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend whose kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith touched countless lives.

Brian is survived by his loving wife, Penny Stark; his son, Anthony Stark and his wife Jennifer; his daughter, Heather McKinney and her husband Jerry; and his cherished grandchildren, Presten, Maddie, Jaxon, and Logan, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Brian’s greatest accomplishment was never something that could be measured by a title or profession. His life’s work was people.

For many years, Brian faithfully served through his church’s Friday Club Bible study, welcoming people of all ages with open arms. To many, he became much more than a familiar face at church. He was a mentor, a trusted listener, an encourager, and for some, a second father. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, heard, and accepted. Whether it was giving someone a ride, buying snacks for Friday Club, offering a listening ear, or simply showing up when someone needed him, Brian gave generously without ever expecting anything in return.

To his family, Brian was the source of countless cherished memories. He was the dad who took his children camping and sledding, who loved singing karaoke with family, who laughed around a Dungeons & Dragons table, and who found joy in simply spending time with the people he loved. His strength was quiet but steadfast. His loyalty never wavered, and his love was shown through the countless everyday moments that made those around him feel safe and cared for.

Even while facing serious illness, Brian’s thoughts remained centered on his family. He celebrated the accomplishments of his children with immense pride and found his greatest happiness in watching his grandchildren grow. He never missed an opportunity to tell others how proud he was of the people he loved.

In the days following Brian’s passing, family and friends were asked to share their favorite memories of him. The responses revealed a beautiful common thread. Some remembered Friday Club, camping trips, karaoke nights, church, games, or simple conversations. Many couldn’t name just one moment. Instead, they remembered how Brian made them feel—safe, welcomed, listened to, accepted, and loved.

That is Brian’s legacy.

He never sought recognition for the good he did. He simply believed in loving people well. The measure of his life is found not in what he owned or accomplished, but in the countless lives made better because he was part of them.

Brian’s family invites all who knew him to honor his memory by sharing stories, extending kindness to others, and loving people as selflessly as he did.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing his suffering has ended and that the seeds of kindness he planted throughout his life will continue to grow for generations to come.
