Obituary

Brigid Lee Pierce of Whitmore Lake, born October 14, 1987, stepped foot onto the soft gray shores beyond our mortal world on October 4, 2025 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  She is a beloved child of Gerald and Karen Pierce, sister to Steven (Jennifer), aunt to Quinn, Nora, and Leo, grandchild to John, Doris, Harry, and Bertha, and treasured friend to many.  She has left behind so many who will cherish her memory and her indelible mark on the world.

She had a wild childhood, full of imaginative adventures with her brother and friends.  When teamed up with her brother, she dominated rounds of Pictionary at every family gathering.  Trips up north were full of songs, stories, and laughter surrounding campfires, riding quads on wooded trails, and on one occasion making a self-made potato cannon.  Her love for others was shown throughout her life.  She genuinely loved her friends and their company.  She and her friends held many parties, full of life and joy and stories. She always sought work where she could be with people – brightening their day with her zest and humor.  She worked for a number of years in the food service industry, then in mortgage servicing.  Most recently, she was employed at a therapy center for children, helping with anything that was asked of her.  She greeted every family and client entering the building with light and joy.

Her love and passion for fantasy and the arts was shown from an early age -- joining both the school band and the drama club.  Consequently, Brigid had a deep love of music, musicals, and wildly creative and artistic stories. She could sing songs by heart from a wide variety of things, anywhere from Cannibal the Musical and Rocky Horror Picture Show, to Irish music and sea shanties.  She rarely missed the Renaissance Festival with her friends, collecting an impressive array of armor and swords over the years.  She deeply enjoyed making and painting miniature figurines for the games she loved to play. She not only played tabletop games, but crafted stories and led them for friends. She had a love for painting, even if she was her own worst critic, and loved many different kinds of art.  However, her profound appreciation of fantasy was always intertwined with her passion for others, evidenced by the tattoo on her arm, written in Elvish and citing Les Misérables - "to love another person is to see the face of God."

Beyond these passions, Brigid will also be remembered for so much more.  She was also an activist and a hub of connection for many.  She had a deep belief in equity for those with mental health barriers and emotional and learning disabilities, standing as a voice in this community on her podcast.  She touched people around the world with her compassion, genuineness, and pure kindness.  We will deeply mourn her passing but we have loved to see how her life was lived, sharing and spreading joy and love.

Brigid will be honored on Thursday, October 16 in services at Howe Peterson Funeral Home in Taylor, Michigan, starting with gathering form 12-3, with eulogizing at 3.  This will be followed by a gathering in Woodhaven at the Woodhaven Community Center at 4.  Friends and family are welcome to join as we commemorate an excellent vibrant life.
