Bruce Empson, of Taylor, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2020 at the age of 82.

Loving husband of the late Carolyn.

Beloved dad of Hal (Laura) and Bruce Jr. (Adair)

Proud grandpa and papa of 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

As much as the family has enjoyed that Dad/Grandpa/Papa/Uncle Bruce (and "Dammit"… at least that's what Mom called him) has been with us for three years now... the cancer symptoms finally had their way, and created a hole in our lives (but not our hearts).

My heart – although full of memories and love for this very important man – breaks as I write this… but I am grateful to everyone who has made Dad's last three years so very special.

I remember growing up how friendly, outgoing and open my Dad was. He talked to everyone as if they were a friend. His signature "Haaaay" (think of a long, drawn out "Hey") is forever imprinted in my memory.

I can look back on his life and see a man who was colorblind... a man who loved… a man who enjoyed being loved (and hugged)…and a man who did the absolute best he could to take care of those around him (read the posts on Facebook "Bruce Sr. Health Updates and the posts in this guestbook). I always knew that he was a good, moral and generous man... but it's good to hear from others affirming through their stories and experiences how this great man has impacted their lives.

No, he won't get lots of television coverage or a long procession with adoring fans lining the streets...But this fan will hold him dearly in his heart... and cherish every moment we had together!
