Bruce graduated from Fordson High School in 1938 and attended henry Ford Community College in its first year as a college. he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII, member of the Detroit Navigator's Club, Commander and member of the Wyandotte Power Squadron, Commodore and member of the Ford Yacht Club, life member of Masonic Lodge #172 in Dearborn.
