Captain Jeremy Watkins passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2025 at the age of 49 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Christine. Proud dog dad of their Great Dane, Harvey. Dear son of Darlene and the late Jerry. Loving brother of Michelle (David) Weller, Stacy (Jim) Shaffer, and Scott (Sandra) Thomas. Son-in-law of Cynthia Graham (Greg Groth). Brother-in-law of Anthony (Amy) Graham. Jeremy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Capt. Watkins proudly served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman. Following his service, he joined the Dearborn Fire Department March 5th, 2002. He worked his way through the ranks and was promoted to Firefighter 2 in 2006, Engineer in 2012, Lieutenant in 2017, and finally Captain in 2020. Throughout his service, he believed it to be an honor to serve the citizens of his hometown. He responded to countless emergencies and positively impacted the lives of thousands.

Following his diagnosis in 2023, Capt. Watkins had no choice but to retire early and, being one to never back down from a challenge, he faced cancer with the same bravery and courage that he had shown through his career. He fought valiantly until the very end, with his beloved Chrissie by his side along with his brothers and sisters of the Dearborn Fire Department.

Jeremy was also an avid Detroit Lions fan and supported his team in their ups and downs.

Celebration of Life gathering will take place at the Dearborn Performing Arts Center (15801 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48126) on Thursday, March 6th, 2-8pm. A prayer service and honors service will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery on Friday, March 7th, at 11am.
