Carmela Sultana passed away on October 3rd, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Michael. Dearest sister of Bill, Jerry, Maryanne and the late Josephine, Joseph, Victoria, Mary, and Mary-Jane. Loving mother of Sam (Paula) and Joe (Tammy). Tyler (Marissa) and Briana. Great grandmother of Nico and Sophie. Cherished by Madison (Joe and Tammy's niece).
Carmela and her two beloved sisters immigrated from Malta to Detroit with their spouses and lived side by side in their homes in Detroit learning the American way of life. With the passing of all three sisters, and era comes to a close, yet their legacy lives on in all of us.
Carmela was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Taking care of her family was her full time job, and it was her favorite job in the whole world. She was a devout catholic. Carmela was born in Gozo, Malta and was extremely proud of her heritage. She loved to tell stories about her younger years in Malta. Cooking was one of her passions, especially foods that reminded her of home. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:00 P.M. located at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services 22546 Michigan Ave. Dearborn, MI 48124. Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 6, 2025 instate at 10:00 A.M. until the time of mass at 10:30 A.M. located at St. Thomas a' Becket 555 S Lilley Rd. Canton, MI 48188.
