Carol Ann McGrew was born Carol Ann Zokos on December 21, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan.

She grew up with her parents in the Detroit area, graduating from Fordson High School in 1960. After graduation, she moved with her parents to St. Clairsville, Ohio, where she remained for several years until she moved on her own to nearby Wheeling, West Virginia, where she first lived in the YWCA. She remained in Wheeling, a city she loved and where she made many friends for a number of years during her twenties. After that, she and her mother, the late Millie Zokos, moved back to the Detroit area where they lived together with a friend named Julia.

It was during that time that Carol met Larry in 1974. They met one day before Carol's birthday at the Warren Valley Ski Club Dance. They were married 11 months later, on November 28, 1975.

Carol and Larry moved to a home in Taylor, Michigan where they lived for 13 years, part of that time with Carol's mother, Millie. After that, Carol and Larry made their final move to Heritage Park Condominiums in Dearborn, where they have resided ever since.

Carol worked as a payroll clerk, office assistant, and finally a travel agent throughout her professional life.

After she retired, she became active in volunteering work as a reading tutor at Long Elementary School for 13 years.

Carol loved people and dogs. Her friends of many years include Barb, Jean, and Gloria. She and Larry had 3 poodles: Pierre, Beau, and Brandy.

Carol remained a devout Catholic throughout her life. She donated many volunteer hours to various churches where she was a member.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Larry McGrew; her two brothers-in-law, Robert McGrew and Daniel Maloney; her sister-in-law, Linda Maloney; and her two nephews, Kevin Thompson and Ryan Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 2:00-8:00pm and the Funeral Service will be held at 4:00pm located at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services 9800 Telegraph Rd. Taylor, MI 48180.
