Catherine Hendricks Choske

Catherine Hendricks Choske passed away October 3, 2017 at the age of 95.  She was born in Williams County, Ohio, the second of five children of Vera Douglass Hendricks and Herald Hendricks. After surviving the Great Depression, typhoid, and childhood polio she moved to Chicago, where she met her future husband when both were selling Christmas toys at Sears Roebuck.  George went off to serve in World War II, and Catherine trained to become a registered x-ray technician.  After the war, they married and raised three children.

Catherine resided in Tecumseh for 65 years, working as an x-ray technician at Herrick Memorial Hospital, Mercy Hospital in Toledo, and finally as department head at Saline Community Hospital.  Catherine never slowed down. She served her community as a Cub Scout den mother and a Youth Ministry Leader at First Baptist Church.  Her life-long interest in fiber arts led her to membership in Spinners Flock in Chelsea.  She enjoyed rock hunting with the State Line Gem and Mineral Society.  Catherine spend her last year at Presbyterian Villages of Westland, continuing to be active with their vocal choir and chime choir and doing charity knitting.

Loving mother of Fawn (James) Kopas, Frank (Evelyn) Choske, and Fred (Marcia Fisher) Choske.

Proud grandmother of Nicholas (Tonya) Kopas, Jacob (Yuk Yan Lam) Kopas, and Thomas Choske.

Cherished great grandmother of Trajan Kopas.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Herald and Vera (Douglass) Hendricks, her brothers Stanley, Doyle and Merle Hendricks, her sister La Moyle Shear and granddaughter Unity Kopas.

Funeral service will be at 11:30AM (gathering from 10:00AM to 11:30AM) on Friday, October 6, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran, 21915 Beech, Dearborn, MI.
