Clara Jane (Himes) Lauber, a long-time resident of the Downriver area, passed away on Friday the 26th of February, 2016 at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital.

Born in 1936 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Clara was a dedicated mother of four. As a young girl she moved to Michigan with her family and embraced all things Detroit, especially the Tigers.

A proud mother and grandmother, Clara loved a home cooked meal, and family get-togethers. She was a dedicated friend who enjoyed visiting with old neighbors from Bishop Co-Op, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She loved flowers, the simple joy of her two cats, the guilty pleasure of White Castles, and her soap operas "stories," and was an avid sports NUTS.

Clara is survived by a loving family: her husband, Gary Lauber; her father and mother, Laurence and Reba Hines; her brothers and sisters, George, Art, Kale, Laurence, Ray and Janice; her children, Darlene Pappas, Vickie Soltis, Jeffery Dickey, and Francis Roe; and her grandchildren, Jason and Stacy Pappas, John Soltis, and Margaret Roe. Clara is further survived by other loving relatives and countless friends.

J. L. Peters Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Viewings are scheduled for Monday February 29th from 10:00am-12:00pm for family, then 12:00pm-7:00pm and Tuesday March 1st, 9:00am-11:00am for friends. The funeral is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday March 1st.
