Craig Allen
Bechtel
December 27, 1963 – August 9, 2023
Craig Allen Bechtel (59) of Dearborn, MI, passed away on August 9th, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Beloved husband of Donna. Loving father of Daniel & Brenna, Ashlee & Jeff and Christopher. Youngest brother to Dick & Carol, Michael & Debbie and the late Bruce.
Greatest Papa to Brenden, Ava, Tristan, Ailyn and Jax.
Dear brother-in-law to Harold, Laura and Debbie.
Crazy uncle to Cory & Kelly, Lindsey & Justin, Amanda & Mike, Andy & Jackie, Katie, Kerry, Amy and Jodi.
Adored son-in-law to Donald & Jeanette and the late Jean.
Born on December 27, 1963, to Richard and Edna; Craig grew up in Dearborn, Michigan. He always spoke fondly of his childhood, growing up in the era of bike riding, cowboys & Indians, fort building and G.I. Joes. His older brother's would probably tell you he was spoiled; he was.
Family vacations at their cabin in Harrison, MI, led to his love of the great outdoors. There he learned how to hunt and fish, catch frogs, ride snowmobiles and dirt bikes. The only thing he didn't appreciate were snakes, he hated snakes.
Craig graduated from Edsel Ford High School. He loved wrestling and football. Even though he admitted not being great at either one, he still loved every minute. He went on to become a Journeyman carpenter. His love for woodworking was evident in everything he made. He eventually retired from the City of Dearborn, as a carpenter.
Craig was also very proud being a Dearborn Reserve Police officer and belonging to the Sons of the American Legion, Fort Dearborn Post 364, in honor of his father.
Craig considered his biggest accomplishment in life to be his children and grandchildren. They were the love of his life. He loved showing them his hunting and fishing skills. And although not always successful, they always had fun. He loved family camping trips, going to the U.P. and riding his Harley Sportster.
Although Craig will be unbearably missed, we find great comfort that he has been reunited with his beloved dog, Gunny, who he missed so deeply.
Craig had requested that instead of having a funeral, he wanted a celebration with all of his family and friends. The plans are in the works and will be announced soon.
Private family time has been requested at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn Michigan, 48124, 313-561-1500
