Daniel Grant Sczomak passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 27, 2026. He is survived by his mother; Lois, his father, John; and his sister, Kelly. Daniel loved classic Nintendo, animals, and guitar. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University with degrees in Journalism and Communications, where he was the News Editor for The Eastern Echo. After graduating, he began a nearly 20-year career in Marketing and Communications. He was especially proud of his time serving his community with colleagues at the City of Dearborn. A vegan since high school, he was incredibly passionate about social and animal justice. He found his cat, Sammy, in a junkyard and refused to come home without him. Over the span of 13 years, he continuously grew out his hair until it was ten inches and donated it to Wigs 4 Kids six times. He was deeply empathetic and tender-hearted. He was endlessly knowledgeable about his interests and fluent in sarcasm. He was, is, deeply loved.

Daniel's Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. May 13th at The Church of The Divine Child Catholic Church, 1055 Silvery Ln, Dearborn, MI 48128. Gathering from 9:30 a.m. Memorial Gathering will be Tuesday, May 12th from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Dearborn Location of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to Wigs 4 Kids or Gleaners.
