Obituary

David L. Beauchamp Sr. of Taylor passed away on May 26th, 2023 at the age of 73. He was born on August 30, 1949 in Highland Park, Michigan to Frank J. Beauchamp and Cecilia I. LaRue. The youngest of seven, he came from a large family with many cousins, aunts, and uncles spread all over the state. He graduated from Taylor Center High School in 1967 and proudly followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Frank, by serving in the United States Marine Corps, 1st Division, in Vietnam as a machine gunner from 1969 to 1970. While overseas, he met and served with Jim Macek of Wyandotte who became his lifelong friend. David worked at Kerr Corporation in Romulus where he met his wife and best friend Bobbie Beauchamp. They were married in 1972 and had five children.

David valued human connection and helping others - he was everyone's favorite person. A spirited lifelong Catholic who rarely missed Mass, he was a diligent father, husband, and friend to many who could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He volunteered to organize St. Alfred's Fall festivals and served as the chairman of the board for First Catholic Federal Credit Union. He was a member of the VFW Post 1136 in Wyandotte and was a tremendous advocate for veteran assistance and benefits. He also participated as a judge for The Patriot's Pen Voice of Democracy scholarship panel.

David enjoyed road trips and long weekends with Bobbie where they would visit flea markets and antique shops throughout Michigan and Ohio finding most of his sports memorabilia. An unwavering fan of the Detroit Lions, he spent many Sundays in the "Man Cave" with his sons, grandsons, and friends hoping and dreaming for a Super Bowl win. He spent countless hours in his younger years educating his kids on the
importance of sports, staying active, and, most importantly, teaching his children on how to become terrific spouses and parents. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, cat lover, and bowler who played in leagues at Indian Lanes and Thunderbowl. He was a curious lifelong learner that took a particular interest in history, snakes, and gardening. Although his interests were vast, he was truly happiest when he was with family. His smile and warm spirit are missed by many.

Loving husband of Bobbie Beauchamp; Caring father of David (Sara) Beauchamp Jr., Shane (Jennifer) Beauchamp, Nathan (Amanda) Beauchamp, Renee (Chris) McQuain, and Jeff (Megan) Beauchamp; Proud "Papa" of Karsyn, Jacob, Sebastian, Olivia,

David is survived by his brother Richard Beauchamp; Sisters Karen Dale and Cathy Spears; Mother-in-law Helen Elliott; brother-in-law Eric Elliott; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dozens of neighborhood cats he cared for. He is preceded in death by parents Frank and Cecilia Beauchamp; Father-in-law John H.
