David "Dave" Griswack

David Griswack, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and man of faith, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 3, 2026. He was born on June 5, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to Francis “Frank” and Bernice Gryzwacz (Mazurkiewicz).

David was blessed with a large and loving family. He and his beloved wife, Faye Griswack (Middleton) shared 61 lovingly married years together. He was the proud father of three daughters: Laurie Long, married to Robert Long; Teresa Gaitley, married to the late Robert “Bob” Gaitley; and Diane Brown, married to Jim Brown.

David’s grandchildren included Kassandra “Kassie” Bishop, married to Carter Bishop, and Kallie Gibson, engaged to Josh Meyerink. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Emmerson Bishop. David treasured time with his family and especially loved welcoming them into his home for Christmas, where he delighted everyone with his famous biscuits and rolls.

David was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Gryzwacz and Raymond Gryzwacz (Bebe).

A proud veteran of the United States Army, David loved his country and was honorably discharged after his service. He went on to build a career in the safety and health industry, with a particular focus on automotive dealerships.

David’s Catholic faith was central to his life. He served as an usher at Saint Maria Goretti (Saint Albert the Great) and volunteered at many church events, where he cherished his church community. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as a third- and fourth-degree member where he served in several roles.

David had an enduring curiosity and enthusiasm for technology. He was always eager to find the latest computer, printer, or other device and enjoyed visiting Best Buy to talk with the Geek Squad about the newest upgrades. He also loved his garden and would affectionately tease family members about how his plants were outperforming everyone else’s.

David enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally, including cruises with Faye and friends. Above all, he will be remembered for his love of family, generous spirit, steadfast faith, patriotic service, and the joy he brought to those around him.

David will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandson, extended family, friends, and church community.

“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” -Matthew 26:21
