Dave spent is younger years in West Virginia but moved to Dearborn Michigan in 1952 with his mother and "beloved" step Father Roy B. Smith (Pimpaw). Divorce was a rarity in those days so Dave had a hard time adjusting but with the guidance of Roy and many other family members he overcame his obstacles and became very successful. Dave Owens was a proud graduate of Fordson Highschool in 1958. Fordson is where Dave found his love for working with his hands and his love for hotrods. Dave was in the auto shop class that built the original (tractor), Fordson's mascot! In 1959 Dave Owens enlisted in the United States Army, where he became a helicopter mechanic stationed at Fort Lenard wood, Missouri. Dave Owens returned home to Dearborn after his service and worked at the local "filling" station while he regrouped and decided what his future would be. While working at the gas station Dave Owens and the path of many future souls changed forever when he met the love of his life and soul mate, Doreen Owens (Furness)! Dave and Doreen Owens were married in 1966 and enjoyed 55 wonderful years together creating a large, loving, family and a legacy that will live on forever. Dave Owens worked for the city of Dearborn, Ford Motor Company and ultimately worked 37 years for Detroit Edison as an electrician. In his golden years Dave enjoyed traveling with Doreen, enjoying his grand kids, watching cop shows, having a cold beer, driving sales for Scotty O'Hotty hot sauce and telling stories. Dave was a hardworking man and loved by all. He valued his family and friends above all and was always willing to help a person in need. Dave passed away peacefully with his beloved Doreen by his side on 8/23/21. Dave Owens will be terribly missed and forever cherished. Dave was preceded in death by His parents and beloved sister Marillyn Scheere (Owens).
