Deacon Lawrence "Larry" Girard passed away on May 25, 2025 at the age of 106 ½. Beloved husband of the late Jean Girard (nee Faucher). Loving father of Anne Marschner, Paul (Linda) Girard, Mary Girard, Clare Girard, and Tom (Liz Geisler) Girard. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy, Carl, Brian, Ian (Meredith), and Cameron (Kelly). Great grandfather of 4.

Larry was born in Windsor, Canada in 1918 and joined the Christian Brothers in 1932. In 1947, he moved to Detroit, MI and met his beautiful wife, Jean. The two married in 1951 and had 5 children. Larry earned his masters degree in psychology and became a social worker for Wayne County for 25 years. He was ordained as a permanent deacon in 1976 and served the Catholic Church until he was over 100 years old. His faithful service, longevity and cheerful disposition was an inspiration to many.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Dearborn location of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services 22546 Michigan Ave. Dearborn, MI 48124. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 29th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Instate from 9:30 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church (formerly St. Sebastian) 3965 Merrick St. Dearborn Heights, MI 48125.
