Obituary

Debbie was born and raised in Detroit Michigan with her caring parents Jessie and Mildred Gill and her siblings Elaine and Jimmy. In her young adult years, she was no stranger to fun. One evening, 36 years ago, she caught the eye of a young man by the name of Dave Reddick. The two fell in love and married 12 years later. The young couple had started a family, starting with Brian and not far behind, Jessica.

In November of 1990, their happiness was tragically cut short when a house fire claimed the lives of their precious children. Brian was 3 years old and Jessica only 11 months. Devastated, the couple pressed on and continued to be each other strength and support for the next 30 years., however, they didn't take this journey alone. Fortunately, there was a large network of friends and family there by their side.

Once a month, Debbie would have a poker night with a group of lady friends. It was a wonderful opportunity for the women to catch up on the latest and share a lot of laughs. Bowling was another way Debbie enjoyed socializing with her friends and amaze everyone with her use of a 16-pound ball! There were also many evenings spent at the Allen Park legion where she not only hanging out with friends, but also made new ones.

Debbie was tough as nail yet had a tender heart of gold. She was willing to help anyone where ever she could. She worked many years as a telemarketer making phone calls to collect donations for various charities. With her strong will and personality, she withstood the many unpleasant comments and hang-ups without taking it personally. Much of her working life, Debbie was the primary means of transportation for several of her coworkers and she was happy to be of help.

As time went on, Debbie's health began to decline. Dave did all he could to keep her happy and comfortable. When he was unable to be there with her, her nephew Jimmy stepped up to care for her. She put up a good fight to regain her health and held on as long as she could. She spent the last 8 months of her life going between hospital and rehab facilities.

She will forever be missed by all of her family and friends. Her kindness earned her the honorary "Aunt Debbie" by even non biological family. She is now in a place where suffering no longer exists, and though it hurts to let go, we must be grateful for her new comfort.
