Obituary

Deborah Ann Jackson was born on Sept 27th, 1955, daughter of Patricia (L'huillier) Jackson and Charles Herman Jackson, Sr.  She was the sister of five siblings.  She is survived by her siblings, Sandi Morgan, Paul Jackson, and Cory Andrews, her son, Joel Kubicki, Jr., and her grandchildren, Corinne and Christian.

Debbie grew up and stayed in Dearborn Heights for most of her life.  Her childhood friends were Judy Miller, Sue McKoy, Sharon Weiroch Clark, Rona Thomas, and Linda Grogan.  She was close to her neighbors growing up on Detroit St. as well as those around her while living on West Point St. during her adult life.

She went to school at St. Sebastian, O.W. Best middle school, and entered Annapolis High school as part of the first freshman class of its opening year.  She received her diploma later in life due to her lifelong struggle with Crohn's Disease.  She received her Associate's degree from Henry Ford Community College and spent the rest of her career as a nursing assistant for Henry Ford Health Systems.

Debbie married once to Joel Kubicki, Sr., in 1976, on October 2, 1976, at Bethany Baptist Church in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.  Both Debbie's and Joel's parents were present for the wedding and Sandi Jackson (Morgan) stood next to her as the maid of honor.

In general, Debbie made friends wherever she went.  She warmed quickly to most people she met.  She had a special way about her when it came to small children.  She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, regardless of familial ties.  Her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren all have memories of watching movies ranging from Shirley Temple films to The Santa Clause series with Tim Allen.

Debbie placed exceptional effort and emphasis on birthdays and holidays by sending cards and notes to loved ones and friends.  She and her younger brother, Michael, taunted and teased each other with birthday cards every year.  Their gimmicks even went as far as to resend older birthday cards back to one another from years past.  Distance between her and those she loved made it harder to connect but was always overcome with love and an occasional phone call.

During her free time, Debbie would often go on trips with friends from work.  She liked to go to the movies and have lunch with her friends on the weekend.  She also preferred to spend her free time at home, crocheting blankets, watching old movies, and playing games online.

As a mother, she made it her priority to raise her son well.  She instilled values of hard work, education, and perseverance by example and habit-forming consistency.  As a mom, she was the most important person to her son. She gave her love freely and was there during the tough times with warm embraces and words of comfort.

Debbie finished her work career after serving as a nursing assistant at Henry Ford Health Systems for almost 20 years.  She was loyal, hard-working, dependable, and making heartfelt connections with others came easy to her.

She is fiercely loved and will be missed and remembered by her family, friends, and colleagues.
