Dennis Lyle
Touquet
September 10, 1946 – May 25, 2025
It is with great love, profound sense of loss and sadness that we celebrate the life of Dennis Lyle Touquet, who peacefully departed this world on May 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with blood and bone cancer. Born on September 10, 1946, in Dearborn, MI, to the late Eli and Dorothy (Bellamy) Touquet. Dennis was a graduate from Lowrey High School, class of 1965. Dennis was employed by General Motors until he was drafted into the Army in 1966. Prior to departing for the service, he asked for Linda's (Oestrike) hand in marriage. Dennis served our country 1966-1968 in the Vietnam War. In October 1968, Dennis fulfilled his dream of marrying Linda, whom he had his sights on since 5th grade and even became a safety guard at her corner just to see her walk home.
In 1971, they had their first child, Tracy Lynn, who died at 2 weeks old from spina bifida. The next year, they were blessed with Michelle Renee and 5 years later Michael Edward.
In 1976, Dennis had a tragic accident that left him with no other choice but an early retirement from General Motors. After a complicated 2 year recovery from a compound fractured leg, Dennis and Linda bought their first business in 1978, a pizzeria and Dairy Bar which they had for 11 years. From there, they ventured into a Shell gas station with a full Deli and before full retirement in 2004 owned an Equipment Rental Store.
Dennis was an avid hunter, fisherman, and had a passion for muscle cars, especially Fords. He purchased and fully restored 1970 Ford SCJ Torino Cobra Jet. On a beautiful sunny day you would see him driving down Main St. Eaton Rapids. Dennis prides himself on maintaining high standards from his prize Torino that never seen a drop of rain to his beautifully landscaped property. In the evenings, his to do list was complete and ready for the next day's work.
Dennis and Linda loved the Upper Peninsula which they often visited and reminisced of their honeymoon. Driving down the unbeaten path and getting lost on an old country road was a great adventure. Casino visits playing "777" slot machines were his favorite.
Dennis always owned sporting dogs and loved to hunt. They bred and owned Weimaraners for 25 years. Lucy, their Weimaraner, remained by his side, and will miss all those belly rubs and treats.
Dennis had many accomplishments throughout his life from self employment to Kiwanis President, Meals on Wheels and was known as the "Soup Boss" at their annual Valentine's Day fundraiser. He loves his country and is red, white and blue through and through.
But above all, family was his heart and soul. Dennis is survived by his most loving wife of 56 years, Linda and their children Michelle and Kevin Ripley, Michael and Sandi Touquet; Grandchildren Tommy (Jade), Katelynn (Tray), KJ, Austin, Justin, Tyler. Great grandchildren, Brooklynn and Crew. Brother Larry (the late Judy) Touquet, and sisters Lillian (the late George) and Marlene (the late Rick) Heuchert; and loving nieces and nephews and cousins.
