Obituary

CARMICHAEL, Donald J.

Donald James Carmichael, 64, of Dearborn, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June, 14th, 2016 at his beloved farm outside of Evart, MI. Born in Detroit to Don and Shirley Carmichael, Don or as he was known to many "Donnie", grew up in Oak Park, Michigan attending Shrine Catholic School and later graduating from Lawrence Tech University where he was highly regarded for his life long work in the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.

Don married the love of his life Sue (Bristow) Carmichael on December, 30th, 1977 and had their first child Kenneth Campbell June 13th, 1983 following with their second, Sarah Elizabeth March 2nd, 1988 and blessed their lives thereafter. Don would retire from The Ford Motor Company in 2006 having started the "Tractor Division" in 1977, and later transferring to the "Parts and Service" department where he made life long friends and was known for his seemingly endless stories about his "Farm".

Neighbors always knew when Don was back in the city, often returning home to find their snow shoveled, lawns mowed or garbage cans returned from the curb. His daily walks, whistling though the neighborhood with his beloved dog Lilly often lead to many stops at the fence to say "Hi' and of course a treat for every dog they met. Many of Don's passions included hunting trips with his close friend Norm Krazel , Fishing trips with Ken Landis, and endless hours of volunteer work for the Boy Scouts of America.

"Donnie" is survived by his loving wife and children, sisters Jan Schum, Nancy Young, Laurie Kuntz, and brother Rob Carmichael.

Proceeded in death by his parents Don and Shirley Carmichael.

As a celebration of life, Don was also an organ donor.
