Donald Ian Gephart
December 2, 1974 – January 15, 2025
Donald Ian Gephart passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50 on January 15, 2025, at his childhood home in Garden City, Michigan.
Donnie was born on December 2, 1974, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the United States Air Force Academy, to Donald and Margaret "Peggy" Gephart. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kristen Rose Gephart; his devoted mother, Margaret "Peggy" Gephart; and his children: Amanda Simon (Tyler), Gregory Miller (Carrie), Kayley Gephart, Gavin Gephart, and Ian Gephart. He was a loving brother to Jody Markham (Paul) and an adored uncle to Brandon (Mallory), Kyle (Makayla), and Tyler. Donnie was also a cousin, great uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, and friend to many, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and support.
A proud graduate of Garden City High School, Don went on to pursue roles surrounding his passion for public service. He served with distinction in several roles thereafter, including Auxillary Sergeant for the Inkster Reserves; Police Authority Officer and Defensive Tactics Instructor at Sinai Grace Hospital; and Police Authority Sergeant, Field Training Officer, and Mountain Bike Patrol at Fairlane Town Center. Don went on to work for the City of Dearborn as an Emergency Police Dispatcher and served as president for the Police Dispatchers POAM Union. Don's leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to others were evident in every role he undertook. He was a calming presence in times of crisis, always ensuring the safety and well-being of all those around him.
Some of the things that Donnie enjoyed most include fishing, going to car shows, watching football, and, above all else, any time that he could spend with his family. He was an unwavering supporter of his children, attending their school and sports events whenever he could. Donnie was the anchor of his family—a constant source of love, strength, and encouragement.
Donnie was a one-of-a-kind father, husband, brother, son, and uncle. His generous heart, dedication to his loved ones, and selfless service to his community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
