Donald Raymond Hoffmann Sr. Obituary.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Raymond Hoffmann Sr., who departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the age of 82.

Don was born on December 15, 1941, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He moved to the United States as a child, became a citizen, and graduated from St. Alphonsus High School, class of 1959. He received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Western Michigan University in 1964 and an MBA from the University of Detroit in 1969.

His professional career started at Ford Motor Company, where he held two patents, followed by many engineering leadership positions until his retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed working for the City of Dearborn and his all-time favorite job at The Henry Ford Museum / Greenfield Village, until he was 80 years old.

Don was a huge sports fan, especially of the Detroit Lions, University of Michigan, and Detroit Tigers, and an avid golfer, leaving a legacy in the hearts of those who knew him.

He was known for his dapper attire, articulation with words, and his passion for his family. Whether he was huddled around the TV watching sports, hanging out with family and friends, having lunch at Betty Ross, or going to flea markets, he touched countless lives with kindness and charisma.

Don is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Hoffmann; his sons, Thomas aka Spanky Carr (Anastasia) and Don Hoffmann Jr. (Barbara); his sisters, Barbara Drew (Joe) and Janet Ross (Dan); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Walsh (Mike), Tim Carr, Elizabeth Carr, Mary Dillon, Alex Dillon, and Helena Hoffmann; and his great-grandchildren, Ellie Carr and Aubrey Carr.
