MAYBERRY, Donald Lee 1943-2013 Originally of Churubusco, IN, Donald ("Don") Mayberry died suddenly on July 15, 2013 in Dearborn, MI at age 69. He was born on September 28, 1943, to Alta Marie (Baker) and Marion Theophilus Mayberry in Wolf Lake, IN. He grew up in Churubusco, where his parents owned and operated the Mayberry Furniture Store. He graduated high school in 1961 and then attended Ball State University where he graduated in 1965 with a BS in Accounting. A true math whiz, Don used his love of numbers to help and teach others throughout his life. His past employment included positions as a CPA with KPMG, President of a banking organization, other non-profit financial responsibilities, and most recently as a Trainer for Shelby Systems, Inc. and a Registered Representative with Michigan Securities, Inc. At the time of his death, Don was the Treasurer of First Baptist Church and served on the Leadership and Finance Team. He had previously served as moderator, Associate Moderator and Chairman of the Stewardship and Finance Committee. He was also presently serving on the Board of Directors of Detroit Baptist Union and was a board member and treasurer for more than 20 years. Don married S. Jean (Wilson) on April 29, 1967. They spent 46 happy years together and had two daughters, Sarah and Donelle and two grandchildren Sarah Addison ("Addy") and William. Of all his many important positions and titles, none mattered more than that of "Grandpa". He also enjoyed spending time volunteering with the church, playing trumpet in the church orchestra, fishing, working with computers, cheering on the University of Michigan teams, traveling, researching genealogy and like any true Hoosier, watching basketball. Surviving relatives include his wife, S. Jean Mayberry, of Dearborn, daughters, Sarah (Matthew) Morawski of Dearborn and Donelle (Joseph) Buratto of Beverly Hills, MI, grandchildren Sarah and William of Dearborn and cousin, Norma Bibb of Dearborn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alta and Marion Mayberry and step-mother, Martha Mayberry. A Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 20th, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Dearborn. Visitation will be at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave. on Friday 3-9 pm. Burial will be in Eel River Cemetery in Churubusco, IN.
