Donna Jean Cooney of Taylor, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the age of 83.
Donna was born on February 15, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, at Florence Crittenton Hospital, to Paul and Katherine (Frazier) Potts. She was the loving mother of Tammy Tollon (Jamie) and Katherine Ralston (Ralph); cherished stepmother of Brian and Erika Cooney; proud grandmother of Christian, Esq. and Captain Aaron Tollon (USAF), Christopher and Brianne Cooney, Avery Supernois, and Riley Ralston; and great-grandmother of Ryker and River Cooney, Isla Bomia and Holden Supernois.
Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Thomas A. Cooney (also known as "Superman"); her parents, Paul and Katherine Potts; and her sister, Carol Sutton, and her first husband Ronald Jerry Banks.
A strong and resilient woman, Donna faced life’s challenges with courage and grace. No matter the circumstance, she was always there for her family—celebrating life’s happiest moments, offering comfort during difficult times, and loving deeply with her whole heart. To her family, she was their own personal Wonder Woman, fighting battles no one saw, sacrificing more than she ever said, and loving us with a fire that never went out. Her deep faith carried her through every storm, and even in her hardest moments, she showed us the true meaning of resilience. Her love will continue to guide us.
Donna worked in banking for many years, where she enjoyed serving members of her community and where she met the love of her life, Thomas.
She found joy in gardening, traveling, and especially spending time with her family. Above all, Donna treasured being a grandmother and great-grandmother, roles she embraced with endless love and pride.
Donna will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, sense of humor, strength, and love of life will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
