Dorothy Jane Byrd of Taylor, Michigan, entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2026.
Beloved wife of Gary Byrd.
Devoted mother of Timothy (Sarah) Barnette and the late Mark and Luke Barnette.
Cherished grandmother of Brittany (Jeremy), Mikkayla, and Quinn, and proud great-grandmother of Gwendolyn, Odin, Melody, Sawyer, Samuel, Marvel, and Jack.
She is also survived by her loving siblings, Clifford, Sherry, Betty, and John, and was preceded in death by her brother, Jim, and her sister, Eunice.
A compassionate caregiver by both profession and nature, Dorothy dedicated many years of her life as a registered nurse at Heritage Hospital in Taylor. She found fulfillment in caring for others and was admired for her kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to those in need.
Above all else, Dorothy's greatest joy was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart and treasured every opportunity spent with them. Whether it was celebrating birthdays, holidays, school events, or life's everyday milestones, she never missed a chance to show up for the people she loved. Her encouragement, generosity, and steadfast presence were gifts that her family will cherish forever.
Dorothy also had a way of bringing everyone together, and nowhere was that more evident than around her dinner table. Her famous spaghetti became a family favorite, creating countless memories filled with laughter, conversation, and love.
Strong, selfless, and deeply devoted to those she loved, Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and unconditional love.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
