Dorothy O'Brien passed away on August 22, 2022 at the age of 100.
Beloved Wife of the late Robert McPhee and James O'Brien. Dear Mother of Patrick, Peggy (Bruce) Placek, the late James, and Michael. Loving Grandmother of Heather Placek, Tracey Fryz, Paula Badour, Michael O'Brien, Dori Schneider, Joyce O'Brien, and the late Eric Placek. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews that called her Aunt Dot. Dorothy is known as Nana, the Pie Queen because of her delicious homemade pie's.
Mom, Nana, Dot, Dorothy, Aunt Dot was a woman of love and faith that brought many people to know and love Jesus, especially her children and grandchildren. She was so loving and kind and always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her smile and laughter could light up a room. She was Nana to everyone. She loved children and played like a child with her grandchildren. They loved spending time with her. She loved cards and dominos and Sanders hot fudge cream puff sundaes. She was a fantastic cook and was famous for her pies. She was stylish and beautiful inside and out. She was known as Streamline during her high school days.
She was a generous giver to many charities and Divine Child Church. She worked as a volunteer at the American Cancer Association. She was loved by all and will be missed.
May she rest in peace until we meet again. Dorothy's funeral Mass will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 29th at the Church of the Divine Child, 1055 Silvery Ln., Dearborn, MI 48128. Gathering at church from 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave. Dearborn Mi. 48124. Interment St. Hedwig Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
