Douglas Edward Mattson passed away at home on November 22, 2022 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Elaine for 52 wonderful years. Dear brother-in-law of Nan and Robert. Proud uncle of Meagan (Daniel) Holve and great uncle of Olivia and Amelia. Brother-in-Law of Robert (Nancy) Morgan. Trusted friend of Darrell Topel, Billy and Nikki Martin, Dwayne Topel, and April Topel.

Doug proudly served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. After his service, he returned to Detroit and began working as a security guard. Through his career in security, he worked at Grinell Brothers, Henry Ford Hospital, and Chrysler, from which he retired. It was at Grinell Brothers where he met his wife, Elaine. Doug and Elaine cherished their time together. They loved to travel around Michigan and other states. Their favorite spots were Frankenmuth and the air museum in Ohio. It didn't matter where they were, as long as they were with each other.

While they were home, they enjoyed visiting their local Tim Hortons for a coffee and that is where they met their dear friends, Darrell, Billy, and Nikki.

Visitation will be at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7, 12-4pm. Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 8 at 11am. Interment with military honors will follow the service at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
