Obituary

DEMBECK, EARL W.

On January 18, 1920, Earl William Dembeck was born in Detroit, Michigan to William Dembeck and Margaret Keppen Dembeck.  On February 22, 1920 he was baptized into the Lutheran Church at West Bethlehem in Detroit.


Earl served in World War II in the American Field Service in Burma during 1945.  He served with the 14th British Army as an ambulance driver.


He married Marian Esther Geisler on April 19, 1947.  They lived in Detroit until 1966, then moving to Livonia and then to Taylor Michigan.  Earl and Marian had two children; Ruth Anne and David.  Marian was called to heaven in 1993.


Earl was always active in whatever church he belonged to.  He served as elder, trustee, usher and sang in the choir.  He loved being involved in all church activities. His last church was St. John's Lutheran in Taylor, Michigan.


On November 12, 1994 Earl married Gerda Frank.  She had two children, Diane and Michael.


Earl was 97 years old when he died on February 8, 2017.  His funeral will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Taylor, Michigan on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11:00am (instate 10:00am) and he will be laid to rest in Glen Eden Cemetery.


Earl is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marian and his brother Harold.  He is survived by his second wife, Gerda, a daughter Ruth Anne (Bill) Moseley and a son, David (Valorie) Dembeck.


Grandchildren include Douglas (Heather) Roemer, Katherine (Patrick) Winningham, Margaret (Ben) Kienman, Allison (Larry) Vandeberghe and David John Adam Dembeck.  Bryan (Carissa) Marshall and Brandon Marshall.  His step daughter Diane (Ron) St. Louis and step son Michael Frank.


He was also blessed with eight great grandchildren.


Memorials may be given to the New Sign Fund for St. John's Lutheran Church in Taylor, Michigan.


Visitation will be Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the Taylor Chapel of the Howe Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 S. Telegraph Rd., Taylor, Michigan 48180.


Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11:00am (instate 10:00am) at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 13115 Telegraph Rd., Michigan 48180.
