Edsel Smith, age 96, passed away May 20, 2023.

Beloved husband of the late Lillian and Louise.
Proud father of Donald (the late Helen) and Cindy (the late George) Wharfield.
Caring grandfather of Kimberly (John) Grahl, Donald II, Scott, and the late Patrick.
Great-grandfather of Bradley, Victoria, Kyle, Madison, and Emma.
Dear brother of Joanne Cole, and the late Bob Smith, Melba Dombrowski, Jane Fowler.

Edsel lived a full and multifaceted life. He was a proud WWII and Korean War Army veteran. He went on to start a career at General Motors and retired after 30+ years of dedicated service.

Edsel held many talents. He was an excellent woodworker, crafting many detailed projects, from plaques, to tables, to chairs to rock the great-grandkids in. He also loved cooking and baking good food and always would make you something to eat when you visited, whether you were hungry or not! Edsel made a masterful pie crust.

Above all, he was a loving family man. Edsel enjoyed taking camping trips all over the with kids and grandkids. They visited many picturesque locals ranging from Michigan state parks to sites around Lake Huron in Ohio. He had seen all but 3 states on his travels!

Edsel will be remembered as hardworking and wholesome. He loved his family and friends unconditionally, and he never met a stranger. He will be missed greatly by so many.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 25 from 2-8PM. Funeral service Friday, May 26 at 11AM. All services located at Howe Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 Telegraph Rd, Taylor MI 48180. Interment at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery to follow.
