Edward William
"Bill" Kaiser Jr
May 10, 1942 – October 6, 2023
Edward William "Bill" Kaiser, Jr, a fifty-year Dearborn Michigan resident, passed away on October 6, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" S. Kaiser. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Kaiser Robinson, son-in-law JB, grandchildren Lily and Benjamin, all from Wayne, Pennsylvania, his cousin Nancy Kaiser, and his beloved parrot, Sammy.
Bill was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up in Western Springs, Illinois – just outside of Chicago. He was a graduate of Northwestern University and Harvard University, and was awarded a prestigious Churchill Scholarship for one year of study at the University of Cambridge in England. His studies culminated in a PhD in Chemistry after completing a one year fellowship in England once again, this time living overseas with his new wife, Jackie. He went on to work in research for Ford Motor Company for thirty years, publishing numerous papers on his work – just google "EW Kaiser" if you want to be thoroughly bewildered by his scientific jargon!
In addition to his passion for research, Bill was incredibly mechanically inclined and a "do-it-yourselfer" at home, always serving as his daughter's first call for help with anything household or car related! He was an amateur astronomy buff, using his own telescope to explore the night sky, and he simply loved nature and animals. In addition to his cherished parrot, Sam, he enjoyed his fish pond as well. He also was a dedicated Detroit sports fan – closely following the Tigers and Red Wings. Even more important to him was his family. He loved watching his grandchildren's swim meets, basketball and soccer games and hearing all about school and other activities. He adored, and was incredibly proud, of all of us.
Bill thrived living in his longtime home – though was incredibly grateful to friends, neighbors, landscapers, contractors, pond experts/caregivers, and so many others who helped him along the way. He was a quiet and gentle man, extremely intelligent with a dry sense of humor, and made a big impact on those he knew - and was simply the kindest person you could meet. We will always remember him and miss him terribly.
A private graveside prayer service for family and local friends will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 12:30pm at Mount Kelly Cemetery in Dearborn, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, Bill and his family would appreciate donations to "Birds and Beaks Rescue and Rehab" in Battle Creek, Michigan – Birds and Beaks
