Kapanowski, Sr.

Edward "Edzia" Kapanowski, Sr. (81) of Taylor, Michigan passed away peacefully on September 1, 2023, after battling complications from cancer.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Edward W. and Helen. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Antoinette "Tosia", his 4 sons Mark (Debbie), Edward, Jr. (Sharon), Robert, and Brian (Shawn), and 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia, and brother, Thomas.
Edward enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from St. Hedwig High School in Detroit, Michigan. He retired from the elevator industry in 2000 after 36 years. He was an active member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America Society #718 and the Holy Cross Council of the Knights of Columbus #2739.
Edward was an avid competitor in bowling, softball, basketball, and golf. He was a passionate sportsman, enjoying his time up north fishing and hunting. He loved trying his luck at the casinos. Edward was someone who enjoyed every bit of life, but most importantly he cherished being with his family and long-time friends from high school.
Memorial Mass on Tuesday, September 26 at 11:30AM at St. Alfred's Parish, 24175 Baske St, Taylor, MI 48180. Luncheon to follow at American Legion Carl E. Stitt Post , 23850 Military Rd, Dearborn Heights, MI 48127.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Wounded Warrior" or to the "Capuchin Soup Kitchen" in the name of Edward Kapanowski Sr.
